Hello everyone! It’s time to reveal my mom’s great room makeover! Of coarse like any space, there are still things that we want to add and play with, but the transformation so far is so fun that I just couldn’t wait!
In order for you to truly appreciate the change, here’s a little peek at what the space looked like before. It wasn’t horrible, but we thought it felt overly heavy with all of the dark furniture. And I think Tillis the dog agreed!
And this is what it looks like now! All of the new furniture was found in one day during an all day shopping/thrifting marathon that I talked about here. Have you ever tried to refurnish a room in one day? It’s was crazy, exciting, exhausting and a little stressful, but it all came together beautifully if I do say so myself!
These chairs from Home Goods were our very first purchase. We loved that they were the same chair in different fabrics, that they recline (but you wouldn’t guess it just by looking at the chairs), were comfortable and fun at the same time, and were affordable. Once we decided on the chairs, everything else started falling into place.
I was dyeing over this console table that we found at Down East. It is such a one of a kind piece and lucky for us it was just what we were looking for to fill the long wall opposite the couch.
Once we decided on the console, I knew we would need something big HUGE to hang above it. We found these AWESOME frames at restore (for $6 a pop … can you believe that?!?) and bought a bunch of them. They were from a hotel and had an ugly print in them so we just popped the old print out and replaced it with these fun botanical prints that we took from this book. The best part was that we loved the frame and mat as is so didn’t have to do a thing but switch out the prints! Easy peasy! Kirsten from 6th Street Design School uses prints from the same book and was my inspiration … check out her blog for some design eye candy!
And one more just for fun!
I have another project or two from the thrifted furniture that we found to add to the room … if only there were more hours in the day to get them done! Even without them though, the space has done a complete 180 so these pieces will just be icing on the cake! I’ll be sure too keep ya posted on anything new we add, but until then have a great weekend! (It’s almost the weekend, right??)
